Gastronomy of Malaga

What attracts all visitors to Malaga are its beaches, the atmosphere, the quality of life, everything that can be done there. But, in addition, Malaga is surrounded by land, pure air and sea. With so much sea and mountain, Malaga’s gastronomy could not be better. Malaga’s food is healthy, quality and very varied

This gastronomy is typical Mediterranean, and the products used are always fresh and full of colour. Here are some of the typical dishes that you can’t forget to try when you go. Enjoy!

Typical Dishes of Malaga

Porra anterquerana

Malaga is well known for its cold soups, perfect for the summer, which is the best time to visit the city. This soup is very similar to the salmorejo from Córdoba, but it has its own touch. It has tomato, green pepper, bread, and you can eat it with boiled egg and tuna. It is delicious!

Campero

We all like to eat a less “fine” meal from time to time. Something on a piece of bread that falls apart when you take a bite… Well, we bring you the best dish for that! The campero is very similar to a hamburger, but with its Mediterranean touch. It has ham, cheese, chicken, lettuce and mayonnaise, although you can also include bacon or egg. I assure you that you will not go hungry.Campero

It’s the typical tasty stew for winter nights. The main ingredient is cabbage, but it also has chickpeas, beans, meat and other vegetables. It is the perfect dish for cold weather and for a family meal. Berza malagueña (cabbage from Málaga)

We are going again to the mountains, specifically to the area of Axarquia, in the Sierras de Málaga. This suckling goat meat is cooked slowly with olive wood and seasoned with rosemary, thyme, garlic and olive oil.

Torta malagueña

A good meal won’t end if you don’t eat a good dessert. The torta malagueña is very typical cake from this city and combines many flavours that reflect the essence of Málaga.
