All this is possible in the Metropol Parasol space, better known by the nickname all Sevillians use to refer to this space: “Las Setas” (the mushrooms). This architectural intervention has been one of the most controversial in Seville in recent years. The truth is that from the viewpoint located on the mushroom terrace you can get a 360º view of Seville through a pleasant walk along the footbridges that run through it. On the other hand, going down to the basement you can access Antiquarium, the archaeological site that was found during the works where you can see the remains of three Roman houses, mosaics, and a 12th century Almohad house.
On the banks of the Guadalquivir River, where a few centuries ago ships loaded with precious metals and spices from the Americas arrived, and near the Torre del Oro, you will see several ships. There are different companies and in some of them children do not pay entrance. The boats are large and comfortable, and on almost all of them you can have a drink or a snack, and the guided tours usually last about an hour. During the cruise it is possible to have a different perspective of the city and the children enjoy the experience and being able to move freely around the boat.
In a few meters around it is possible to spend a whole day, or more than one, with children and have a good time. The Seville Expo was held on the Isla de la Cartuja in 1992 and some of the facilities built for it, such as the navigation pavilion, are still in use today.
On the one hand, the Isla de la Cartuja is home to Isla Mágica, Seville’s amusement park. If your visit coincides with the summer you can also visit its water park: Agua Mágica. Fun is guaranteed for the whole family.
In the same area you can find the Navigation Pavilion and Caixa Forum. Inside the Navigation Pavilion you can find one of the favourite activities of the children: the planetarium and the immersive 360º cinema. Here they learn about the sky and the stars with passes aimed at children, but also in both spaces (also at Caixa Forum) they offer interactive activities and workshops specially designed for the little ones of the house, in which they can see, touch, ask questions and experience for themselves.
Just in front of the Navigation Pavilion, in Torneo street, is located one of the biggest leisure areas for the little ones that in Seville is known as the Pirate Ship Park because it is precisely this enormous attraction that focuses all the attention. But you can’t play on the boat alone: there are slides, swings and a good picnic area.
If your little ones like animals and the marine world, one of the best plans you can make in Seville is to schedule a visit to the aquarium. There are all kinds of marine animals in its tanks, although the shark area is usually the one that arouses most interest in visitors. Moreover, if you want a little extra excitement, the aquarium offers unique experiences such as spending the night among sharks or having dinner watching the marine fauna.
Your little ones have no problem staying up late, so why not plan an outdoor movie with them to get away from the summer heat? The summer ofer for children is varied and it is sure that you find a movie you want to see together.
