Enjoy the only Mosque-Cathedral in Europe

Enjoy the only Mosque-Cathedral in Europe and skip the queue accompanied by a specialized guide, and thus understand every detail of this place declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1984.

This mosque, which was able to host up to 30,000 parishioners, was also the second largest mosque in the world, after the mosque in Mecca.   The visit begins in the well-known Patio de Los Naranjos (you will learn more about the Cordoban courtyards here), you can see the great bell tower that houses inside the wonderful minaret of the Aljama Mosque built by Abd al -Rahman III.

Once in the interior one does not stop being surprised along the walk among the 1,300 columns that form the building. From the foundation Mosque built by Abd al-Rahman I in the year 786, the journey through time takes us to the first extension, where the self-proclamation of Abd al-Rahman III as Caliph took place, giving rise to the Independent Caliphate of Al-Andalus, time of greater cultural splendour of the city of Qurtuba.

The last part of the visit will invite you to be surprised with the magnificent cruise of the Cathedral, which began its construction in 1523, and which is located in the Mosque.
