Enjoy our Free Tour through the historic centre of Granada. In this 2’5h tour we will visit one of the cities with the most important Muslim, Christian and Jewish legacy in the West. Granada is a city that takes you back in time and has preserved some of the most important monuments in the world.
We will start our Free Tour in the Plaza Bib Rambla, next to the kiosk. In this first point we will know all the curiosities of one of the most emblematic squares of Granada. Then we will go to the Corral del Carbón from the 14th century, one of the oldest monuments left to us by the Arabs as a warehouse for merchandise and merchants. Today, it houses an interesting bookshop of the Legado Andalusí and in its courtyard, concerts and performances are organised, especially in summer. Next, we will arrive at the City Hall, an interesting historicist building from where we will reach two of the most important monuments of the city: the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel, which stands out for being the first Renaissance church in Spain and the resting place of Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand V of Aragon.
The tour continues through the centre of Granada towards the Madraza, which was the city’s first university in 1349. It became the Casa del Cabildo in 1500, then a library, until its appearance was gradually transformed into what it is today, the headquarters of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Nuestra Señora de las Angustias. We will follow the course of the Darro River to reach the Paseo de los Tristes, a path that we will walk along to have some of the best views of the Alhambra.
