Description

Discover the oldest city in Europe

Enjoy the most complete tour of the city, a walk through the most symbolic places where you can move to the Roman period when you enter the stands of the Roman theatre and get to know the interior of the majestic cathedral, a sign of the wealth gained from trading with the Indies.

We will start in San Juan de Dios Square, an emblematic place in the city because it is located right in the Town Hall. We will continue the route towards the area of Campo Sur and enjoy the best views of the city from the promenade. We will go into such popular neighbourhoods as the Barrio del Pópulo, the oldest in the city, or the Barrio de la Viña, a seafaring neighbourhood known for its carnival and tapas.

Next, we will visit the interior of the Roman Theatre, one of the largest of its time and which was discovered in 1980. Inside, we will enjoy an interpretation centre that will allow us to contextualise the archaeological remains of the Roman building and the importance that it gained in the formation of the medieval city and the present day Barrio del Pópulo. A few meters away, we will find the majestic Cathedral of Cadiz that from its exterior front and the use of materials of different shades surprises us. Inside, our guide will show you the spectacular baroque temple that was built after the primitive was burned, and with the prosperous growth that the city of Cadiz had achieved thanks to the trade of the Indies. Inside, there are works of great heritage value such as Luisa Roldán's San Sebastián, the choir organ and the cathedral museum. We will access the tower where we will find a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and the impressive machinery of the clock.
