The Alhambra and the Generalife is one of the monuments that you must visit at least once in your life. It is and will remain a paradigm of beauty.Â
The Alhambra, since the Nasrid period, has preserved a series of cultural values that have increased over the centuries and that we want you to get to know during your visit to Granada. The oriental attractions of Granada, which for years the romantic travellers were responsible for spreading universally, makes the Alhambra stand out with all justice. It is an Islamic palace from medieval times that has survived to the present day. We will show you the beauty of its coloured plasterwork ceilings and wall coverings, the tiles of the skirting boards, the marble of the floors and the gardens, which are intimately linked to the architecture by their evocative paradisiacal atmosphere.
With our tour, you will discover the palatine city of the Alhambra, planned and built to be the seat of the Nasrid dynasty between 1238 and 1492, and later slightly modified by the Christian kings. The layout that we will encounter during the guided tour of the Alhambra follows a long tradition in the medieval Islamic West, and specifically in Al-Andalus. We will walk through the 105,000 square metres that the entire Monumental Complex occupies. During our visit to the palatine city, you will discover the most important area, as it was part of the family residence of the dynasty and is known today as “the Nasrid Courtyards”. In this area we will find a unitary character but distributed in different palaces, built in different periods, almost all of them adapting and redecorating their predecessor, or building on a new site. Their structures are similar to any other house, but with larger dimensions and their own decoration.
But if there is one thing that stands out from our walk through the Alhambra, it will be the patios, the viewpoints and the gardens where water and vegetation play a major role. In these gardens we will find the close relationship that they awoke in their conception with the Koranic paradise longed for by the Muslims.
This wonder of the world, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1984, is not only one of the most visited monuments in the world, but also a constant source of inspiration for artists, musicians, writers and creators in general.
The Alhambra is a building that will impress you with its uniqueness. It is a beautiful and inspiring Monumental Complex to walk through its interior, but above all you will have the need to answer hundreds of questions that you will be able to solve with a specialised guide who will accompany you throughout the tour. You won’t be able to leave the Alhambra without the need to return, to refresh your visual contact with its decoration, its patios and its views. With this tour, you will be able to visit the monument without the need to wait in the long queues at the ticket office to get your ticket to the Alhambra. Our guide will accompany you, guide you through the tour and tell you the many stories and legends that surround the Nasrid complex. You can stop to observe the earthly beauty of the Alhambra and take photos as souvenirs.
Adapting to the needs of your stay in Granada, we have put at your disposal different routes in the morning and afternoon in Spanish, English and French, so that you don’t miss out on discovering the wonders hidden in this palatial fortress. We are waiting for you at the obligatory stop of your trip.
