Ronda is one of the most charming cities in Spain, it has many places and corners to get an idea of the history of the city. With this tour we want to show you the most attractive monuments of Ronda, we will start from the church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced. We will go to the alameda del Tajo, to appreciate the best views of the city towards the Bridge and the Tajo de Ronda, a natural gorge of more than 100 meters deep and which was declared Natural Monument of Andalusia in 2019, we will also discover the Hemingway’s walk while we go in search of other monuments that will bring us closer to its history.
We will continue our tour along Calle Tenorio, where stately residences stand, until we reach Casa Don Bosco, the family mansion of some Granadinos who gave their wills to the Salesian Congregation. Of this, it is worth mentioning the beautiful patio decorated with Nasrid tiles and its gardens, which overlook the Serranía.
We continue to the Palace of Mondragón to learn about the history of the region through its various archaeological collections. From here, we will walk through the Arch of Felive V and the Plaza Abul Beka, entering the oldest part of the city. We will head towards the Plaza Duquesa de Parcent, where we can find the four churches of Ronda.
We finish our tour and we will provide you with the entrance tickets to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria la Mayor, so you can go inside on your own. You will discover the baroque influence that is palpable in different elements that coincide with the completion of its works.
This route around the most outstanding monuments will allow you to get to know the ins and outs of a city that will not leave you indifferent.
With this tour you have free access to the Casa Don Bosco, so you can learn part of the history of the city; and the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria la Mayor, essential in your visit to Ronda to understand the Islamic passage through the city, as it preserves the remains of the mihrab and the wall with ataurique decoration. All this accompanied by a specialised guide who will help you understand the richness that characterises Ronda.
