Why you should join to the Free Walking Tour with OWAY?

The Free Walking Tour in Córdoba began with OWAY Tours at the end of the year 2013, being the first Free Walking Tour which was working in the city. During 2.5 hours you will enjoy this guided visit starting in Tendillas Square, a meeting point for local people where they celebrate the most important events. Moreover you will know how was the origin of this wonderful city, the different civilizations who were living here and who was the most splendour period for Córdoba.

From this square we will travel to the Roman period in Corduva visiting the marvellous Roman Temple, which in contrast to others temples dedicated to different gods, this one was built to honour to the emperor Claudio. From Rome to Castile, you will think that visiting the unique Castilian Square in Andalucía. “Are we in Madrid? Are we in Salamanca?” these are the commentaries that normally people ask arriving to the Corredera Square.

We will continue our tour going to another square: the charming Potro Square. This place was not only for traders, travellers, but also for important characters as the painter Julio Romero de Torres or the writer Miguel de Cervantes. Maybe if you have read the novel most famous in Spain, “Don Quixote de la Mancha”, the name of this square will be familiar… Here we say goodbye to the Axerquía to enter in the Medina, where we will tell you some legends about this part.

And of course, we will talk about our most important monument: the mosque Cathedral of Córdoba. But, do you think that we will explain you this building from anywhere? Of course no, we will do it from the amazing Patio de los Naranjos (oranges courtyard), while you can observe the bell tower which is hidden inside the marvellous laminar that belong to the old mosque.

And the visit is not finishing here; in this Free Tour in Córdoba we will know the history about the Alcazar of the Christian Monarch, place where our most famous explorer, Christopher Colombus, requested the means to the Catholic Kings to find a shorter trip to India finding at the end of this adventure, America. In this fortress the Catholic kings where living during the last part of the Castilian conquering, leading the conquering of the last Muslim kingdom, in Granada.

And from here, we will enter inside the amazing neighbourhood of the Jewish Quarter, one of the places more visited of the historical site with many points of interest as the Zoco, the bull fighting ring and one of the most important buildings of the city as the Synagogue is. So well, we are close to finish this Free Walking Tour in one of the greatest gate which belongs to the Jewish Quarter, Almodovar’s Gate.
