Visiting Ronda at Christmas

What to do in Ronda at Christmas?

Christmas is the most eagerly awaited holiday in the world, as there are many celebrations where family, friends and conviviality are involved. So, getting all your loved ones together in one place is a bit complicated. But are going to offer you a solution: Ronda.

Ronda is the place you were looking for to enjoy Christmas, as it combines hospitality with many events that will make you live the magic of these festivities with much more emotion. So, we are going to offer you some ideas that will make you choose Ronda as a safe destination.

Christmas Lighting inauguration

Ronda dresses up for Christmas before the first weekend in December, right at the beginning of the Bridge of the Immaculate Conception, giving rise to the special lighting with which the city of the Tajo is dressed. For example, giant trees, stars, or the typical balls.

You can enjoy this show from different places, but we recommend you to turn on the lights in the Parador de Ronda at 20.00, as you will be able to see how the New Bridge is illuminated in a special way. Afterwards, you can enjoy other activities such as the initiation of the flamenco zambombas programme. On these important dates you can enjoy them with our guided tours to the monuments of Ronda.

In addition, before the lights are switched on, a wreath will be given to the Three Kings in the convent of Santo Domingo to wear until the day of the parade on the 5 January.

Christmas zambombas

The programme begins with the presentation of the cultural event of ‘La Marimorena’. This is a series of flamenco zambombas that you can enjoy free of charge until 21st December. They are performed live next to the bullring from 6pm to 2am. This would be one of the many proposals that make these dates unforgettable for both young and old.

Walking along the Calle de la Bola

We recommend a walk along the Calle de la Bola, also known as “carrera Espiel“, the most important pedestrian avenue in Ronda. It is the place where you will find many shops where you can do your Christmas shopping. You will also enjoy it for its decoration with lights and loudspeakers through which you can listen to carols along your route. You will be able to enjoy our Free Tour in Ronda and thus learn the history of Ronda in detail with our best tourist guides.

Tapas Route

Ronda has many activities that you can enjoy, such as taking a tapas route through the many bars and restaurants that you will find in the Calle de la Bola.

We recommend you start with the Bar El Lechuguita where you will find many tapas at affordable prices for all the public. We also suggest you have a coffee with prodigious views from the Hotel Catalonia (which admits pets), the Parador or the Abbey. All of them are very close to the Plaza de Toros where you can enjoy the Zambombas Flamencas.
