Real Alcázar of Seville

As we mentioned earlier, the Real Alcázar is a monument that is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is of great importance to this city and exudes culture in every aspect.

It has formerly served as the seat of various dignitaries, Muslim princes and Castilian kings. However, since 1931 it has been municipal property, although it remains the residence for royal visits. Currently, in addition to being a royal residence, it is used for municipal and private formal events, as a cultural forum, a university classroom and a tourist attraction.

We recommend seeing the Hall of Ambassadors and its golden dome, which you will pass through on your way out, as well as the Gallery of Grotesques, a passageway that surrounds part of the gardens. From there, you can enjoy an incredible view of part of the palace and the gardens.

If you are going to visit this magnificent monument, it is very important that you buy tickets for both this monument and the Cathedral and the Giralda in advance. Advance tickets sell out very quickly, so we recommend that you do not use this method. For the best possible experience, we recommend our Guided Tour of the Alcázar of Seville, where you will learn from the best guides in the city.

The Triana neighbourhood

In this neighbourhood, you can see the panoramic view of the city from the river. We also recommend visiting this area at night as it has a great atmosphere, especially on Fridays.

There are many tapas bars in this neighbourhood where you can sit back, relax, have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. Keep in mind that this neighbourhood is not particularly cheap as it is quite touristy, but it is still worth visiting.

In any case, if you decide to stay in this neighbourhood, you should start by walking along the river from near the Torre del Oro to the Puente de Triana, which crosses the Guadalquivir River. Here you will find a view that never disappoints and will surely inspire many photos, because it is incredible. What’s more, if you go at night, you’ll see how the lights are reflected in the water, creating a landscape that’s well worth seeing.

El Barrio de Triana Sevilla

La Giralda

La Giralda is also one of the monuments declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Giralda is the name given to the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa María de la Sede. Its incredible height is sure to amaze you, as it is 95 metres high.

This monument has the classic structure of Almohad minarets. It is composed of a central prism with a square base, which is surrounded by four external walls. Between the two structures are the ascending ramps, which, due to their large size, allowed access on horseback.

To visit this monument, we especially recommend two things: plenty of water, as you will need it due to the endless ramp leading up to the bell tower mentioned above, and a camera to capture the stunning panoramic views once you are at the top.

The Giralda is a monument that you will not regret visiting, and it is sure to be one of your favourite places on your trip. To get the most out of your visit, our Guided tour of Seville Cathedral and the Giralda is the best option, where the best guides in this beautiful city will show you the secrets of the Giralda.

Archivo de Indias

This is the last of the monuments declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Seville. It is a must-see for history lovers, as it houses the most important documents and maps of the former Spanish colonies. The Archive has a large number of items of incalculable historical value: autographed texts by Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro. Unfortunately, they are not on display most of the time, except for occasional temporary exhibitions.

This archive was created in 1785 by order and at the request of King Charles III, with the aim of centralising in a single place all the documentation relating to the administration of the Spanish colonies, which until then had been scattered in various archives in Simancas, Cadiz and Seville.

The building that houses this archive is in the Herrerian Renaissance style and stands on a square podium. It has two floors and a large square central courtyard.

María Luisa Park and Plaza de España

The María Luisa Park is the first urban park in the city of Seville and one of its green lungs. In 1983, it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in the Historic Garden category.

This park is perfect for going for a walk and enjoying its perfectly manicured gardens, or simply for resting for a while and relaxing while contemplating nature. We recommend that you walk through the park to the end and see the sculpture dedicated to Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer. You will surely want to take some photos with this sculpture, as it is very beautiful.

The Plaza de España is relatively close to this park, so visiting both in one go is a great plan. You will always discover something new in this square, which we consider to be one of the most beautiful squares in the world. We recommend discovering the secrets and hidden corners of this square for yourselves, as it is a unique experience for every tourist.

In this square, you can take advantage of the opportunity to go for a rowboat ride for 6 euros for 35 minutes. It is undoubtedly a charming and unique experience.
