The Hermitages

Inside this magnificent complex of Las Ermitas, which was founded in the 18th century by Francisco de Jesús, there is a magnificent viewpoint presided over by the monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in 1929 by Lorenzo Coullaut Valera.

You can enjoy a look at the city of Cordoba and part of the Vega del Guadalquivir. It is called “Balcony of the World” since it offers magnificent views to this exceptional landscape, with views to the orange groves of all the plots that are around it. It has a binocular telescope to be able to see the whole landscape.

Cerro del Tomillo

It is located in the town of Azuel, municipality of Cardeña. This viewpoint offers an image of the white architecture of the houses of the village and an abundance of oaks, where you can see the entire northern area of the Natural Park of the Sierra de Cardeña and Montoro.

You can see the contrast that is created between the pastures and the mountains, favoring the appearance of a rich and varied fauna, the most characteristic species being the lynx.

We can get there by taking the N-420 to Ciudad Real, and once we take the exit of Azuel we go to the highest part of the village.

Viewpoint La Cabrera

From these views you can enjoy views of the limestone quarries, along with the lapiaz, which is a geological formation produced by the dissolution of these limestones, causing large areas of difficult access, with large cracks that can reach up to one meter wide.

In the distance you can see the Pico Sierra, where the Ermita de la Virgen de la Sierra is located, the patron saint of the town of Cabra.

To reach this viewpoint we must go along the path of Santa Rita, which starts at the visitor center of Santa Rita, taking the A-339 road from Cabra to Priego de Córdoba.

Huerta del Rey Viewpoint

It is located within the Botanical marked trail, showing a mosaic of Mediterranean landscapes. In this place our senses are at their peak, especially the sense of smell, perceiving the typical smells of the Mediterranean mountain.

All around you all the vegetation of the riverbank, such as oaks, elms or poplars, giving a very striking color right on the banks of the Arroyo Rabilarga, just located at the foot of the slope where this viewpoint is located.

From here you can enjoy the views offered by the Sierra de Hornachuelos Natural Park.

It is located on the way to the Botanical path, to the right of the visitor center of Huerta del Rey. We can see it next to the Rabilarga stream.

Amarga Lagoon

There is currently a marked trail to guide the visitor through this linear route that is located between the Amarga and Dulce lagoons.

It is called Amarga due to the high concentration of magnesium sulfate in its waters, and this creates a chromatic contrast of an intense blue to the Dulce, which has much warmer colors.

This viewpoint can be accessed by the A-3131 road, which connects Lucena with Jauja. To reach this road you can take the exit on the A-318 Puente Genil – Lucena.

Viewpoint of Los Villares

From here we have a fantastic view of the vegetation of the Mediterranean forest, with a wonderful panoramic background. If we have a clear day and without mist, you can see the Sierras Subbéticas and the Sierra de Rute.

It is accessed by the Parque Periurbano de los Villares (CO-3408), Km 7.
