When we go on a trip we always want to enjoy ourselves 100% and for this it is necessary to know what is the best time of the year to visit any city. Cadiz stands out for its more than 3000 hours of sunshine a year and for its average temperature of 18.5ºC.
The coldest and rainiest months in the city are during the winter, so it is not advisable to visit the city during these months (December, January, February and March). Winters tend to be cool, wet, windy and cloudy, but the temperature rarely drops below 10ºC.
But in spite of this, we still want to recommend this time of the year to you! We remind you that the Carnival of Cádiz is celebrated at the end of winter.
During the spring we have mild weather, although it is still a bit cool. For this reason, if you are looking for cultural tourism, this is the ideal time to visit. Take our free tour of the city!
We have to be very careful with showers, because although during this period the weather tends to rain less, there is still some chance of a surprise shower. It is therefore advisable to check what the weather is likely to be like during your trip.
At the beginning of spring we find the Semana Santa (Holy Week), which although less famous than the one in Seville, Cadiz is also very famous.
With a warm, dry climate and temperatures of around 25ºC, summer is an ideal time to visit Cádiz. However, although it is a great time to visit, we must take into account the wind, as if there is an easterly wind it will blow the sand and can be annoying. In this case we recommend you to take one of our guided tours.
If there is an easterly wind there is nothing to worry about, we offer you a solution. On the beach of La Caleta de Cádiz, located in the northwest, we can find an environment protected from this wind, and it is also a fairly large and safe beach. Another option is the beach of Santa María del Mar. It is a very pleasant beach located to the west of the city.
This season of the year is undoubtedly the best time to visit the city, the temperature is slowly dropping and rainfall is not yet likely to bother us. Moreover, the days are as long as in summer and there are fewer tourists.
Near Cadiz we find Jerez de la Frontera, and during this period the city is immersed in the events that take place in the motorcycling circuit, just like in spring.
It all depends on what you would most like to enjoy in the city, for example: if you like Carnivals more than Easter our recommendation would be to come in winter, taking into account the weather and the precipitations that may occur during your stay.
Therefore if you have no preference, our recommendation would be to visit the city during autumn. During this season you will be able to enjoy the beaches and all the cultural tourism, with fewer queues! Take the opportunity to visit the Roman Theatre and the Cathedral!
