The Mercado Victoria was the first gastronomic market to open its doors in Andalusia. It was inaugurated on the 1st of May 2013 and has a space for enjoyment around gastronomy, culture and leisure. It occupies the site of the old Caseta del Círculo de la Amistad, a zinc-covered structure that was erected on the Paseo de la Victoria as a fair booth for the members of the Círculo de la Amistad. It was the oldest stand at the Cordoba Fair, dating back to 1877, as it is worth noting that the Cordoba Fair was held in the Victoria Gardens until 1994, when it was moved to El Arenal, its current location.
At that time, there were no walls on the forged roof, which were replaced by tarpaulins. However, it was not until 1918 that a pseudo-Mudejar style masonry structure was added, designed by the architect Adolfo Castiñeyra.
It is a place with a fascinating history of evolution written on its walls over the years that will undoubtedly win your heart.
The gastronomic markets are considered by businessmen as a great bet for leisure, since at the same time they enrich their restaurant offer.
