5 plans to do All Saints’ Day in Seville

All Saints’ Day is one of the most important holidays in all of Spain. Millions of people travel on these days to make their last trips to the beach, to go to town or to visit a new place on that long list that you still have to complete. Seville is one of those places that lends itself to being visited at any time of the year. It’s at the beginning of November when the temperature invites all those who have cancelled their plans because of the heat that it usually is.

In addition, the city is not usually as crowded as it is at other times of the year, so it will be much easier for you to discover the corners of Seville. A clear example is the Cathedral of Seville, it will be visited with much more comfort together with the Seville Cathedral Guided Tour, a unique plan. Here is a list of some original activities to do on All Saints’ Day.

Going to Magic Island

Isla Mágica is Seville’s theme park. It receives hundreds of thousands of visitors a year and when this time comes, it becomes the so-called “Isla del Miedo” (Island of Fear). The appearance of the amusement park changes completely and witches and zombies are some of the protagonists. All this change takes place because of Halloween, an American celebration that is becoming more and more established in Spain and even changes the night lighting, which is much darker than usual.

This transformation attracts both children and adults and there are many shows and scenes of terror installed in the facilities.

The opening hours are from 12:00 to 21:00. There are two types of tickets, full and half-day tickets.

Visiting the Aquarium

It is not one of the most visited places in the city, but we believe it is a good plan for the whole family and the children above all, who will be fascinated. On days when the weather outside may not be too much, making this visit will improve everyone’s mood. It is located 18 minutes from the Alcazar of Seville, a beautiful walk and highly recommended after visiting this incredible place with the Guided tour of the Alcazar and the Seville Cathedral.

In addition to a visit, we are facing an educational activity to know the countless species that live at the bottom of the sea, the tour is planned through the history of Elcano and Magallanes making the Tour of the World.

In total there are more than 400 species distributed in 35 tanks that make up this unique space in the city.

Tickets cost 18 euros for adults, children from 4 to 14 years old 13 euros and children under 4 years old free of charge. There are still discounts for large families, people over 65, packs and disabled people.

Watching the recreation of the Roman period in Italica

Moving away from the capital, only 20 minutes by car is the town of Santiponce. Below this town is the Roman city of Italica, whose origin dates back to 206 BC

It is surprising how well the Roman theatre and amphitheatre are maintained to this day. The space has been so well preserved that Roman recreations are highly recommended for all kinds of visitors. It is called Itálica Viva and there are recreations of both civil and military life.

Entrance is free until full capacity is reached, except for the activities in the Roman Theatre, which require prior reservation.

Going to the city cemetery

Perhaps this proposal will attract attention, it is not usually advisable to visit a cemetery, but on this occasion we are talking about a dramatised visit through the work of Don Juan Tenorio in the San Fernando Cemetery.

The night will come under the light of the candles. The tour will begin with a theatrical performance of the third act of Don Juan Tenorio’s play.

On the other hand, you will enrich your knowledge of the city by discovering some of the inscriptions that refer to outstanding personalities in different areas of society, for example the 19th century tomb or the tomb of Joselito “El Gallo” by Mariano Benlliure.

In this dramatised play we will find characters such as Miguel Tenorio (secretary and lover of Isabel II), the painter José Villegas Cordero, Ignacio Sánchez Mejías or José Gómez Ortega “Joselito”.

Visiting the Bellver Museum

To end this cultural offer, we recommend a visit to one of the city’s lesser-known museums. The reason for its lack of knowledge is that it has been closed for a long time due to a termite plague. It is currently open for the enjoyment of visitors.

It is located in Fabiola Street and its full name is Casa Fabiola-Donation of Marian Bellver Art. A total of 567 works donated by the collector Mariano Bellver make this building the reference point of Romanticism in the city.

The opening hours are from 11:00 to 20:00 and it is free for all the people who live in Seville. The price for others is 3 euros, with a 25% reduction for those over 65, teaching staff and students.

Among the most outstanding paintings are “El fullero” by Robert Kemm, “Camino de la feria” and “Paisaje con vacas” by Andrés Cortés Aguilar or “La Caída de Murillo” by José Marcelo Contreras.

If you want to visit more museums, the Free Tour Seville will take you through some of the most incredible museums in the capital of Seville.
